AAP Assam urges CM to proclaim Sept 19 as ‘Zubeen Day’

The Aam Aadmi Party unit in Assam has written to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, seeking official recognition of September 19 as Zubeen Day to honour the celebrated singer.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faction in Assam has formally approached Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with a written request to declare September 19 as “Zubeen Day.”
The date coincides with the birthday of Zubeen Garg, the iconic Assamese singer whose music has resonated across the state and beyond for more than three decades.
AAP officials said the proposal is intended to celebrate regional talent, promote cultural pride and encourage the government to recognise the artist’s contribution through an official notification.
The chief minister’s office has not yet issued a response, and the request will be examined alongside other cultural initiatives under consideration.
If approved, September 19 could see a series of concerts, tributes and public events organized by cultural bodies throughout Assam.
