The Himachal Pradesh government has completed updates for 90% of pending Jamabandi entries, aligning them with the latest land records.

The state administration of Himachal Pradesh announced that nine out of ten pending Jamabandi entries have now been revised to match the most recent land‑record data. The update, carried out by the Department of Revenue and Land Reforms, aims to eliminate discrepancies that have long plagued landowners and revenue officials.

Officials said the revision process began in early 2023 and involved digitising old paper records, cross‑checking them with satellite‑derived cadastral maps, and issuing corrected certificates to affected owners. Over 1.2 million parcels were examined, and corrective actions were taken where ownership or boundary details conflicted with the latest surveys.

The overhaul is expected to provide clearer title verification for farmers, reduce litigation over land disputes, and improve the accuracy of agricultural subsidy distribution. The department has pledged to clear the remaining 10% of pending cases by the end of the next fiscal year.

Stakeholders, including farmer associations and local panchayats, welcomed the move, noting that reliable land records are essential for credit access and planning of agricultural activities in the hilly state.
