A nine‑year‑old boy who fell into a 400‑foot deep borewell in Butili village, Alwar district, Rajasthan, was safely retrieved after a five‑hour rescue operation.

A nine‑year‑old boy named BhanU was chasing a kite when he slipped and fell into an abandoned borewell near his home in Butili village, Alwar district, Rajasthan. The well, estimated to be about 400 feet deep, trapped the child at a depth of roughly 40‑50 feet.

Local police, fire‑service teams and volunteers launched a rescue operation that lasted close to five hours. Using a combination of rope ladders, a makeshift harness and drilling equipment, rescuers were able to reach the boy and lift him to the surface without any serious injuries.

Relatives and villagers gathered at the site, expressing immense relief as the child emerged unharmed. Authorities reiterated the need to seal old borewells and warned residents to keep children away from such hazards.
