A nine‑year‑old boy slipped into an uncovered borewell in Butoali village, Ramgarh, Alwar, and was trapped about 45 feet deep. The NDRF, aided by police and local officials, carried out a rescue operation to bring him out safely.

Alwar district’s Ramgarh region witnessed a distressing incident on Tuesday when a nine‑year‑old boy, identified as Bhanu, was pulling kites in the village of Butoali and accidentally fell into an uncovered borewell. The child became lodged roughly 45 feet below ground, prompting immediate calls for help.

Local authorities, police officials and a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived at the site within minutes of the distress call. The rescue crew set up a systematic operation, including the deployment of a winch system and oxygen supply to sustain the child while extraction plans were finalized.

After several tense hours, the NDRF team successfully hoisted the boy to the surface without any reported injuries. The incident underscores the persistent danger of open borewells in rural Rajasthan and has reignited calls for stricter sealing and monitoring of such structures.

Police have registered a case of negligence and are investigating how the borewell remained uncovered. The child was handed over to his family and medical staff for a routine check‑up before being released.

The swift coordination between the district administration, police and the NDRF was praised by local residents, who expressed relief at the safe recovery of the youngster.
