An eighth‑standard student, upset over a mobile‑phone restriction, leapt onto the tracks in front of a Vande Bharat train at Bapudham Motihari station; the train was halted in time by the locomotive driver, averting a fatality.
At Bapudham Motihari railway station in Bihar, an eighth‑grade student became angry after being asked not to use her mobile phone on the platform. In a moment of distress, she stepped onto the tracks and jumped in front of an oncoming Vande Bharat Express. The incident occurred during the train's scheduled passage through the station.\nThe locomotive pilot, observing the sudden intrusion, applied emergency brakes and brought the train to a halt before it could reach the point of impact. Thanks to the rapid response, the train stopped a few metres away, preventing a potentially fatal collision.\nRailway officials later arrived at the scene, provided medical assistance to the girl and secured the area. An investigation has been launched to understand the circumstances that led to the incident and to reinforce safety protocols at the station.
