8,723 Rural Women in Bihar Receive ₹32.26 crore Loan, Minister Says It Will Drive Development

Minister Ramkripal Yadav announced that cooperative banks have disbursed a total loan of ₹32.26 crore to 8,723 women in rural Bihar, aiming to boost development for half the state's population.
Bihar's cooperative banking network has extended a combined credit of ₹32.26 crore to 8,723 women residing in its rural districts, according to Minister Ramkripal Yadav. The disbursement is part of a broader effort to bring formal banking services to underserved villages.
State cooperative banks and district cooperative banks are jointly providing modern banking facilities, including credit, to farmers and women entrepreneurs. By leveraging the cooperative model, the banks aim to reduce the reliance on informal moneylenders and improve financial inclusion.
Yadav emphasized that empowering half of Bihar's population – its women – will become a cornerstone of the state's development agenda. He said the loan package is expected to stimulate income-generating activities, enhance agricultural productivity, and create a ripple effect across local economies.
The minister indicated that similar credit schemes will be rolled out in the coming months, targeting additional rural households to sustain the momentum of inclusive growth.
