At 79, Digvijay Singh is rehearsing a daily 8‑km walk as he gears up for a 950‑km foot pilgrimage that will commence on Vijayadashami.

Veteran pilgrim Digvijay Singh, aged 79, has begun an intensive training regimen ahead of a planned 950‑kilometre foot pilgrimage that will start on Vijayadashami. The trek, which spans several districts of Madhya Pradesh, is intended to be completed on foot, following traditional routes associated with the festival.

To build stamina, Singh walks approximately eight kilometres each day, a routine he started in early October. The daily practice is aimed at conditioning his body for the long-distance journey, ensuring he can maintain a steady pace throughout the multi‑day march.

The pilgrimage holds religious significance for participants, who view the walk as a form of devotion and penance during the auspicious Vijayadashami period. Singh’s commitment at an advanced age underscores the personal resolve often seen among senior devotees undertaking such arduous spiritual quests.

Local observers note that Singh’s preparation has drawn attention from fellow walkers and community members, who see his effort as an inspiring example of dedication to faith and physical endurance.
