The Punjab School Hockey Tournament for boys marked its 70th edition today at the PAU Hockey Ground in Ludhiana. Organized under the aegis of the state’s school sports authority, the event gathered school teams from several districts of Punjab.
The tournament, now a long‑standing fixture in the state’s sporting calendar, provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills on a standard hockey pitch. Participants compete in a knockout format, with matches scheduled over the coming days.
Officials from Punjab Agricultural University, which maintains the venue, welcomed the teams and highlighted the importance of nurturing grassroots hockey talent. The organizers expect the competition to draw local spectators and encourage further investment in school‑level sports infrastructure.
Matches will continue throughout the week, culminating in a final that will determine the champion of this historic edition.
