Six hundred Bangladeshi nationals are currently lodged in Jammu & Kashmir while authorities arrange their deportation from West Bengal.

Six hundred Bangladeshi nationals have been placed in temporary accommodation in Jammu & Kashmir as the government prepares to deport them from West Bengal. The individuals, who entered India illegally, are being held under the supervision of the Border Security Force while transport arrangements are finalized.

West Bengal authorities have cited security concerns and the need to enforce immigration laws as the reason for the deportation. The move follows a series of raids in the state that uncovered a large number of undocumented migrants.

Jammu & Kashmir officials have confirmed that the refugees will be transferred to a central facility before being sent back to Bangladesh. The process is expected to take several weeks, during which the migrants will be monitored and provided with basic amenities.

The deportation has drawn attention from human rights groups, who urge that the migrants be treated in accordance with international standards. However, officials maintain that all legal protocols have been followed.
