A 60‑foot tall gate of a fort has been constructed in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, alongside a cave dedicated to the mythological scene of Goddess Durga slaying Mahishasura.
Muzaffarpur in Bihar has seen the completion of a massive 60‑foot high gate that forms part of a newly built fort structure. The gate, constructed with local stone and concrete, is intended to serve as the main entrance to a religious complex being developed in the area.
Alongside the gate, a specially designed cave is being prepared to house a tableau of Goddess Durga defeating the buffalo‑demon Mahishasura, a central motif in the annual Navratri celebrations. The cave will feature sculptural work and lighting to highlight the mythological scene for devotees.
Local authorities and temple committees have overseen the project, aiming to boost cultural tourism and provide a dedicated space for worship during the upcoming festive season. The structures are expected to attract pilgrims from across the state once the installation is complete.
No official inauguration date has been announced, but the development is slated to be ready before the next Navratri festival, allowing devotees to experience the new venue during the peak period of worship.
The initiative reflects a broader effort by regional religious bodies to enhance devotional infrastructure and promote heritage tourism in Bihar's interior districts.
