A farmer working in a field in Kolar district, Karnataka, has uncovered mushrooms that each tip the scales at about five kilograms, a size far beyond the norm for the region's typical varieties.
Local agricultural officials were alerted to the find and have begun a preliminary assessment to determine the species and any implications for crop management. While the exact type of mushroom has not yet been identified, experts note that such massive growth is rare and could be linked to unusual soil moisture or nutrient conditions.
The discovery has sparked curiosity among nearby farmers and residents, who are keen to learn whether the mushrooms are edible, toxic, or could have any commercial potential. Authorities have advised caution until a proper scientific analysis is completed.
