48 Nominations Filed on Day One of Rajasthan Municipal Elections in Jaipur District

On the opening day of Rajasthan’s 2026 municipal polls, 39 candidates submitted 48 nomination papers across 19 urban bodies in Jaipur district, including 13 for Jaipur Municipal Corporation and 10 for Chaksu.
The first day of the 2026 Rajasthan municipal elections saw a flurry of activity in Jaipur district, where 39 aspirants lodged a total of 48 nomination forms for the 19 urban local bodies scheduled to vote later this year. Among these, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation attracted the highest number of filings, with 13 candidates seeking seats in the city’s governing council.
Chaksu, a town within the district, recorded ten nomination papers, making it the second‑most active area on the opening day. The remaining nominations were spread across the other municipal councils and nagar panchayats in the district.
Election officials have confirmed that the nomination window remains open for a few more days, after which the list of eligible candidates will be finalized and published. The early turnout of nominations is being viewed as an indicator of robust contestation ahead of the full polling schedule.
