A 45‑year‑old man, Shambhu Sahni, was killed by gunfire while heading to a hospital after learning of his daughter's birth in Kanti, Muzaffarpur.

Police say 45‑year‑old Shambhu Sahni was shot dead inside the NTPC‑controlled restricted area of Kanti, Muzaffarpur district, on Saturday. The victim had stepped out of his home after receiving news that his daughter had just been delivered and was on his way to the nearby hospital.

According to local sources, Sahni had been receiving threats in recent weeks, although the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots shortly after he left his house.

The incident prompted a swift response from the district police, who have cordoned off the NTPC zone and launched an investigation. Officials have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the shooter.

NTPC authorities confirmed that the area is a restricted industrial zone and that they are cooperating with law‑enforcement agencies to ensure security for workers and residents alike.
