On Saturday, 38 students at Dharampur Government Secondary School in Indore reported stomach pain, headache and dizziness after eating dal‑curry with rice, with four admitted to ICU.

Indore, Madhya Pradesh – On Saturday, a sudden wave of illness struck 38 pupils at Dharampur Government Secondary School in the city's Sanwer area after they consumed the midday meal consisting of dal‑curry and rice. The affected children complained of abdominal pain, headaches and episodes of dizziness.
Health officials who arrived at the school noted that four of the students required intensive care and were transferred to the nearest hospital's ICU, while the rest were monitored and given supportive treatment.
The school administration has suspended the ongoing meal service pending a thorough investigation by the district health department. Officials said samples of the food would be tested for bacterial contamination, and the school will cooperate fully with the probe.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the Mid‑Day Meal Scheme in the region, prompting calls for stricter hygiene checks at government‑run cafeterias.
Parents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any further symptoms, while the education department promised to update the public as soon as findings are available.
