A stampede during the Puri Rath Yatra near the Jagannath Temple resulted in 33 devotees being rescued and transported to hospitals.

Earlier today, a stampede broke out near the Jagannath Temple in Puri during the annual Rath Yatra, a major religious procession. The surge of devotees caused severe crowd congestion, leading to a sudden crush that prompted emergency response teams to intervene.

Rescue workers were able to extricate 33 devotees from the crowd and immediately provide first aid. The affected individuals were then transferred to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Local police and temple authorities coordinated the evacuation, setting up temporary medical tents and ensuring that the rescued devotees received prompt medical attention. The incident has prompted a review of crowd control measures for the remainder of the Rath Yatra celebrations.

No fatalities were reported, but authorities are urging devotees to follow safety guidelines and maintain orderly conduct during the procession.
