The project is budgeted at Rs 48 lakh, covering construction of classrooms, sanitation facilities and basic amenities required for a primary school. Officials said the funding will be drawn from the state’s education scheme aimed at upgrading rural school infrastructure.

Parents and teachers welcomed the decision, noting that the current arrangement in the temple limits space and hampers learning. The new building is expected to be completed within the next year, providing a permanent, purpose‑built environment for the children of Basakhu Bigha.

The move reflects the broader state effort to improve educational facilities in underserved areas, ensuring that students have access to safe and adequate learning spaces.
