Construction workers in Bhanauli, Amethi, uncovered 29 large copper spheres about 60 cm in diameter, prompting an investigation by the Uttar Pradesh Archaeology Department and police.
During routine house‑building work in Bhanauli village of Amethi district, laborers uncovered twenty‑nine metallic spheres buried deep in the soil. Each sphere measures roughly sixty centimetres across and is made of copper, a material that has sparked speculation about an ancient origin.
Local police arrived promptly to secure the site, and the Uttar Pradesh Archaeology Department (ASI) was called in to assess the find. The area was cordoned off to prevent any disturbance while experts began a preliminary examination.
Archaeologists and metallurgists are now analysing the spheres to determine whether they are remnants of historic ammunition, ceremonial objects, or something else entirely. Further excavations are planned to establish the context of the discovery and to understand its significance in the region’s past.
