The West Bengal government has transferred 28 IPS officers, including CID ADG Supratim Sarkar, as part of a major police reorganisation.

The West Bengal Police Department announced a comprehensive reorganisation that saw the transfer of 28 Indian Police Service officers. The move, part of a broader effort to streamline command structures, was announced by the state’s Home Department.

Among the officers reassigned is Supratim Sarkar, who currently serves as the Additional Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department. Sarkar’s transfer will see him take up a new posting within the state police hierarchy.

The reorganisation also involves changes to other senior officers across various branches, including the Anti‑Corruption Bureau and the Special Police Establishments. The government said the changes aim to improve operational efficiency and accountability.

Police officials have said that the reshuffle will not affect ongoing investigations and that all officers will continue to carry out their duties under the new appointments. The state’s Chief Minister has urged the officers to adapt quickly to their new roles.
