A 25‑year‑old mute‑deaf man died after drowning in a pond in Nanora village, Shivpuri district, while attending the Ganesh Visarjan ceremony on Wednesday night.
Shivpuri district police reported that a 25-year-old mute and deaf man lost his life in a pond at Nanora village during the Ganesh Visarjan festivities on Wednesday night. According to officials, the youth had stepped away from the main gathering to relieve himself and entered the opposite side of the pond. While in the water, he became entangled in dense reeds and was unable to free himself, leading to drowning.
Local residents who discovered the incident said the body was found early the next morning, still caught in the vegetation. The police have recovered the remains and are conducting a routine post‑mortem to confirm the cause of death.
