A 25‑year‑old fisherman, Abhishek Manji, drowned in the Narmada River near Bhudani’s Sindhi Camp ghats after slipping while trying to catch a coconut. Police and the SDRF have launched a search operation.

A 25‑year‑old fisherman named Abhishek Manji was swept away by the strong currents of the Narmada River near the Sindhi Camp ghats in Bhudani. The incident occurred while he was fishing and attempting to catch a coconut that had floated in the water.

According to witnesses, Manji slipped on the riverbank while reaching for the coconut and fell into the deep water. The sudden loss of footing caused him to be caught in the swift flow of the river.

Local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) immediately began a search and rescue operation. Rescue teams are conducting a systematic sweep of the area, but the current’s strength has made the operation challenging.

At present, the body of the fisherman has not been recovered, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures for people engaging in river activities in the region.
