25-passenger traveler falls into drain in Kota, eight feared dead

Kota, Rajasthan – Early on Tuesday, a traveler loaded with 25 passengers slipped into an open drain on a city road. Emergency services arrived promptly, but the depth of the drain and the vehicle's position complicated rescue efforts. Local authorities reported that eight of the occupants are feared to have died, while the remaining passengers were pulled out and taken for medical attention.

Police have sealed off the area to investigate the cause of the mishap and to prevent further accidents. The incident has prompted calls for better road safety measures, especially in areas where open drains intersect with traffic routes.

The district administration is coordinating with health officials to provide care for the injured and to confirm the status of the missing passengers. Families of the victims have been notified, and a formal inquiry is expected to be launched shortly.
