Twenty‑one Tamil Nadu citizens who were rescued from Nepal have arrived at Chennai airport, officials said.
Twenty‑one residents of Tamil Nadu who had been stranded in Nepal were flown to Chennai on Monday, landing at the city's international airport under police escort. The group, who were rescued after a coordinated effort by Indian diplomatic officials and local Nepalese authorities, were taken directly to a government‑run quarantine facility for health checks before being handed over to their families.
The rescue operation, initiated after the travellers reported difficulties returning home, involved the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and the Ministry of External Affairs, which arranged for special flights to bring the citizens back safely. Upon arrival, senior officials from the Tamil Nadu state government welcomed the group and assured them of necessary medical and logistical support.
Family members gathered at the airport to receive their loved ones, expressing relief and gratitude for the swift action. The state government has pledged to provide counselling and any required assistance to help the returnees reintegrate after their ordeal abroad.
