A group of 21 Members of Parliament have written to the Governor of Tamil Nadu, requesting that the state anthem be played first at official events.

A letter signed by 21 MPs was delivered to the office of the Governor of Tamil Nadu, urging that the state anthem be performed before any other music at official functions.

The request, which was submitted on behalf of the MPs, cites the anthem’s significance in representing Tamil culture and identity. It asks the Governor to issue a directive to ensure the anthem’s precedence at all state events.

The MPs, who represent various constituencies across India, expressed that the gesture would promote unity and respect for the state’s heritage. They also highlighted the need for consistency in how state symbols are displayed during public ceremonies.

No response from the Governor’s office has been released yet. The proposal is currently under review by the state administration.

The move follows a broader trend of regional symbols being emphasized in national politics, with several states seeking greater recognition of their cultural identities.
