Sixteen young people from Manipur have left for Japan as part of the state’s new skill and employment program.
Sixteen youths from Manipur have embarked on a trip to Japan under a newly launched state skill and employment initiative. The group departed after completing preliminary training in the state, and their journey is aimed at gaining practical exposure and advanced vocational skills abroad.
The program, introduced by the Manipur government, seeks to enhance employability by sending selected candidates to partner institutions in Japan for short‑term courses and on‑the‑job training. Participants are expected to acquire technical know‑how that can be applied back home, thereby addressing local skill gaps.
Officials said the initiative will also foster cross‑cultural ties and open pathways for future collaborations between Manipur and Japanese firms. The youths are scheduled to return after completing their training, with the hope of contributing to the state’s economic development.
