A joint operation by RPF, the crime investigation branch and GRP at Gaya railway station intercepted 15.822 kg of cannabis, leading to the arrest of a female passenger traveling on the Tejas Rajdhani Express.
Gaya railway station became the focus of a coordinated anti‑narcotics sweep on Tuesday, when a joint team comprising the Railway Protection Force, the state crime investigation branch and the Bihar Police’s GRP carried out Operation NarcoSh. The operation targeted passengers and luggage on the platform of the busy junction.
The team discovered a concealed package containing 15.822 kilograms of cannabis. The substance was found in the belongings of a woman travelling on the Tejas Rajdhani Express, who was taken into custody at the scene.
Police officials said the seizure represents one of the largest drug hauls intercepted at a railway station in the region. The arrested passenger is being interrogated, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and any possible network involved in the shipment.
Authorities have not disclosed the woman's identity or the exact legal provisions under which she has been charged, pending formal filing of the case.
