Rajkot’s iconic Garba ground became a sea of gold on Saturday as roughly 15,000 women from the Ahirani community gathered to perform the Divine Raas. The participants were adorned with jewellery that together weighed close to 900 kilograms, creating a striking visual spectacle.
The coordinated dance, a traditional folk form, was executed in perfect synchrony, highlighting the cultural heritage of the Ahirani people. Organisers said the event was intended to showcase the community’s artistic talent and collective spirit.
Spectators lined the perimeters, capturing the moment on their phones, while local media reported the unprecedented scale of the performance. The display of gold jewellery, a symbol of prosperity, added a festive aura to the already vibrant Garba atmosphere.
