The upcoming Jalore municipal council election will allocate 13 seats for women candidates across general, OBC, SC and ST categories.
The Jalore Municipal Council is set to hold elections in which a total of 13 seats have been earmarked for women under the reservation policy. Of these, seven seats are open to general‑category women, three are reserved for women belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), two for Scheduled Caste (SC) women, and one for Scheduled Tribe (ST) women.
This move marks a significant increase in female political representation at the local level, reflecting broader efforts to empower women in governance. The reservation framework aims to ensure that women from diverse social backgrounds can contest and win council seats.
In addition to the reserved seats, several women candidates are also positioning themselves for the council's top post, the Sabhapati (president) role, indicating a growing ambition among female leaders to assume key decision‑making positions within the municipality.
