A Pawan Express passenger bus and a bulk carrier truck met head‑on, causing the bus to be heavily damaged. Emergency services arrived quickly, but twelve occupants of the bus were pronounced dead at the scene. More than twenty passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to serious fractures, and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
