Police in Goalpara, Assam, have taken into custody 12 Bangladeshi nationals, one of whom is a minor, on suspicion of entering India illegally.

Police officials in Goalpara district of Assam reported that a group of twelve Bangladeshi nationals, including a child, were apprehended after border checks raised suspicion of illegal entry into India. The detainees were taken to the local police station where standard procedures for foreign nationals were initiated.

Authorities said the individuals were intercepted near the border area that often witnesses cross‑border movement. The presence of a minor prompted additional care during processing, in line with child protection guidelines.

The detainees are now in the custody of Assam police pending verification of their identity and legal status. If found to have entered without proper documentation, they may face deportation or other legal action as per the country's immigration laws.
