A safety drill was organised in Meghalaya, bringing together 118 mining professionals for a hands‑on assessment of their safety skills. Participants engaged in a series of practical exercises designed to simulate real‑world mining scenarios, focusing on emergency response, equipment handling and hazard identification.
The exercise aimed to benchmark current safety practices against industry standards and to identify areas where further training is required. Organisers emphasized that such drills are essential for reducing workplace accidents in the state’s active mining sector.
Officials noted that the successful completion of the test reflects a growing commitment among miners to prioritize safety, which could lead to lower incident rates and improved operational efficiency across Meghalaya’s mines.
