A hundred folk singers have been roped in to record the title track of DSP’s upcoming series ‘Yellamma’, aiming to infuse authentic regional flavor.
DSP, the production house behind the upcoming television series ‘Yellamma’, has announced that a collective of one hundred folk artists will lend their voices to the show’s title song. The initiative is intended to capture the cultural essence of the region where the story is set, and to showcase traditional musical forms on a mainstream platform.
The ensemble of singers, drawn from various folk traditions across the country, will record the track under the guidance of the series' music director. Organisers say the large‑scale collaboration reflects a growing trend of integrating grassroots talent into popular media.
Industry observers note that such a massive folk participation could boost visibility for regional artists and encourage similar projects in the future. The title song is slated to debut with the series' launch later this year.
DSP has not disclosed further details about the individual artists or the exact recording schedule, but the announcement has generated excitement among both fans of the genre and viewers anticipating the series.
The move underscores a broader effort within Indian entertainment to blend contemporary storytelling with authentic cultural expressions, potentially setting a new benchmark for music production in television.
